This photo is the most iconic of my work with repurposed leather from used baseballs, and it's dated 2021. Published on Malvie Magazine in September 2021, and Fiber Art Now in October 2024. The jewelry set is made with repurposed leather from used baseballs, embroidered with seed beads, plastic beads and semi precious stones; theme of the work is female power. The neckpiece in particular evokes the breasts of the Venus of Willendorf, while the vintage outfit and makeup are a reference to iconic actresses posing in front of a camera, which is inevitably actioned by a man. The idea of feminine has changed and transformed across ages, and yet, hasn't changed much, as the masculine has a huge role in the identification and validation of female attributes, Baseballs are in fact symbols of a strictly gender related type of sport (and culture).
